Celebrate the splendor of the holidays with Nutcracker magic!
Note: Parts I & II are separate workshops. Students may enroll
in only one workshop of choice, or, take the pair of Workshops---either
way, students experience the magic of the Nutcracker! (We read the
entire story at each workshop).
In these 2-hour workshops students get to dress-up as either Clara or Fritz, dance and act out excerpts of the Nutcracker story.
In the Part II workshops, after learning a pantomime to relay the battle story to the Sugar Plum Fairy, we will learn excerpts from the Land of Sweets, like: Spanish, Chinese, Trepak, Reed Flutes, Bon-Bons, & Sugar Plum Fairy, too! After a water bottle break, we will stage the story ballet ourselves with a toy theater, paper dolls, and stickers. The arts-and-crafts portion of the workshop is an opportunity for the students to decorate a Gingerbread House Scene which they finish at home.
Dance class with warm-ups & stretches precede the workshop themes.

In Grandma's Attic
More classes/camps from this provider »In Grandma's Attic is a children's fantasy dance program now celebrating 22 years of dance offerings in NYC! The world of ballet comes alive for dancers age 2–17 with daily, weekend, after-school classes, and summer workshops in this alternative creative ballet program which uses dress-up, make-believe, improvisation and, of course, dance training at all ages and skill levels starting right at preschool. Using both fairytales and original stories, In Grandma’s Attic gives students the look and feel of ballet as a performance art while they explore and reenact stories through dance with the guidance of their teacher.
