Spotlight Performing Arts School

At Spotlight Performing Arts School students take three different classes with three different teachers (all professionals in their field) - one hour singing, one hour dancing, one hour acting. Throughout each term the students work on different techniques and methods in each class, culminating in an end of term showcase for family and friends. The Spring term is our big performance term, in which we rehearse a Broadway show and perform for friends and family. In addition to our regular acting, singing and dancing classes, we are involved in several extra-curricular activities. We were featured in "Voices for Hope", charity concert to raise funds for breast cancer research, recorded a demo of the National Anthem for the Yankees, and sang carols in the lobby of Omni Berkshire Hotel in Midtown (they treated us to cookies and hot chocolate in their fancy restaurant afterward - fun!). We have participated in Little Italy's Christmas parade by riding on a float with Santa, have had students featured on radio commercials and audio CDs, and we also take field trips every semester to a Broadway show. We shot a music video to One Direction's "What Makes You Beautiful", which the students helped choreograph and filmed "on location" at Central Park, and this year we worked on commercial technique and made a commercial video. So we always have something going on!
